Our story
A flicker to pause by.
Kindle & Hum began the way many good things do: as a small ritual for coming back to oneself.

Meet Katie
I’m Katie Cahill: a mom, artist, licensed mental health and art therapist, and Reiki practitioner. For more than fifteen years I’ve had the privilege of sitting with people in some of their hardest seasons of life. It’s sacred, demanding work, and it has taught me that staying grounded, educated, and clear is how I honor those who trust me.
Candles have always been my energizing reset. A flicker to pause by and repair my inner world: primal, warming, and quietly powerful. They’re how I come back to myself so I can show up fully with others.
I come from Idaho, where connection to land and farm was paramount, horizons are endless, and mountains are a reminder of our potential. For the past twelve years I’ve chosen Rockport as home, studying the textures of our natural world, scrambling on granite boulders, dwelling in the depths of the ocean’s mysteries (and, seasonally, digging out of five-foot snow drifts).
“Bottom line, I hope my candles offer you a moment to delight in the experience of being human.”
Why beeswax
Kindle & Hum is built on the belief that beeswax carries something ancient, divinely creative, and nurturing. The collective labor of thousands of bees, the warmth of the sun, the intelligent instinct of the hive: they’re all part of such a pure, natural material.
Every candle is 100% regionally sourced beeswax, melted and poured by hand in small batches, with intention and a little Reiki in every pour. The ceramic holders and dishes are thrown and glazed by hand, too.
Honoring the &
When the world feels increasingly dissonant, separate, and fast-paced, the existential connection through fire offers a way to slow down and reconnect: to oneself, to close friends and family, to the local community, and to the collective.
That’s the & in our name. The you, & the me, & the we. The dark and the light, seemingly opposite, but one can’t exist without the other. Our candles bring you home to your inner light, body, and soul, so that you might shine on.
Shine in, shine on.
— Katie
